Avalon's progress (Day 3 -)
Latest news on the Ocean Row Events blog.
Day 2: Good progress so far but ...
After a blistering row on Day1, Avalon had a slightly slower day when her auto helm decided to play up. Manual steering in choppy seas may not be the best treatment for a delicate constitution.....

Avalon sets off for Barbados!
The crew set out at 11.30 on Tuesday night, after waiting for good weather and the delivery of spare oars. Here she leaves her mooring and disappears into the night.

Avalon ready to go!
Here are the complete crew of Avalon eager to get going on their voyage to Barbados. Sails not allowed, but a following wind will see them clear the land and get into the Trade Winds. The conditions are looking favourable for Monday evening so good luck to them in thier epic record attempt!

Avalon's sea trials
Avalon's crew is complete and they have been practising their stroke. Note the girls doing most of the work.

Avalon preparations continue
It's been an incredibly busy week for the team of Ocean Row Events. Avalon cleared customs and arrived in Puerto de Mogan, met by our Skipper Leven Brown. Our crew has been arriving in Gran Canaria and have helped in the final preparations needed prior to our 45 foot 'Avalon' being craned into the water. Meanwhile back in the UK, some of our team have hung back to ensure that the spare oars required by the expedition, make it out to Gran Canaria in good time, after some issue

Avalon on the water!
Avalon has been craned onto the water and the crew rowed her out to sea in Puerto Mogan.

Avalon and crew arrive in Puerto Mogan
Avalon has now cleared Customs and is on the wharf at Puerto de Mogan. She is looking good after her long journey from the UK and the crew will be working on her for the next day or two making sure that all is ship shape etc and ready for water. Our team will be anxious to get out onto the sea at Mogan just as soon as possible to get rowing this beautiful Rossiter built ocean rowing boat. #photo
